- Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre and Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through music, dance and excerpts from his speeches. The Evanston Children’s Choir; Ajoite Drum & Percussion and the Glass Family Drummers; Evanston Community Drill Team; Christ Temple Praise Dancers; bluesman Vince Agwada; recording artist Sakari; and the Fleetwood-Jourdain Singing Fourtet are some of the performers who will be at this free event!

- In honor of Martin Luther King Jr weekend, The Evanston Public Library is hosting four book programs and a documentary, each with a different take on contemporary African American life. Dates and the books being featured can be viewed on the Evanston Public Library website.

The Music Institute of Chicago honors the extraordinary legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. at its eighth annual celebration, featuring the renowned Brotherhood Chorale of the Apostolic Church of God. The 180-member male choral group, perform an electrifying program of repertoire offering traditional and contemporary gospel and jazz arrangements. Everyone is invited to attend this free event.

- Youth Organizations Umbrella (Y.O.U.) is pleased to announce the sixth annual Diverse Evanston Walks United which is a free, annual community-wide celebration of peace, diversity, unity, leadership, and service that is held on Martin Luther King, Jr., Day. This youth-driven event engages young people from across Evanston in performances and speeches that promote non-violence and making Evanston a safer place.
